A few weeks back, I made a new friend and met him at his office.
While there, he shared with me an infographic about our safety on roads.
It is called “#Love30”.

It so happens to be a global campaign, aimed at reducing our speed as we drive on roads, be it in Europe, Africa or America.
It is meant to make us love the maximum speed limit of 30kms per hour.

It is said that for every 1km per hour increase in speed, the risk of death increases by 4 to 5%.
It is also said that road crashes are the biggest killers of people aged below 30 years, all over the world!

People hit by a vehicle at 20miles per hour are around five times less likely to be killed than at 30miles per hour”, according to Transport for London.
The probability of dying in a pedestrian accident decreases to 15% when struck at 30 kilometres per hour, compared to 85% at 50 kilometres per hour, according to the General Directorate of Traffic in Spain.

So, how about you keep your speed below 30 kilometres per hour, as you are approaching a school, hospital, your area of residence, trading area, home for the elderly etc?
How about you generally drive below 80 kilometres per hour, at all times, on any given day and road?
Most of all, can we practice driving under this limit?
Not forgetting to have our cars in their utmost best condition?
#Love30 kilometres per hour,
Save lives on our streets.
We need everyone of us alive and getting to their destinations safely!
