Well, this journey started back in 2018….at the very first Uganda Alcohol Policy Conference.

Then, we moved to the second Uganda Alcohol Policy Conference in 2020.

Then now we got to the third Uganda Alcohol Policy Conference in 2022 that we have just ended!

The preparations for this conference started back in January 2022.

We did have at least one preparation meeting a month and intensified these meetings as the months drew closer!

COVID19 still had us all in a chokehold and we had to be cautious mapping out how the conference would happen.

Just when we thought we had “gotten rid” of this virus, our “old friend” Ebola came to pay us all another visit!

I was part of these preparation meetings and was chosen as the chairperson of the Publicity Committee for the conference.

The groups of people I coordinated to get the job done were superb; looking at the kind of task, we had on our hands, this year.

I was not so much involved in the preparations of the conferences of 2018 and 2020 because I was still working with UAPA on a contractor basis.

It was this year that I became a member of the alliance and staff of the secretariat.

When I say “staff”, I mean I am that person that ensures the alliance speaks up on social media.

One day, I will tell you the story of how I love doing this work.

Including the #UAPC22…How we got there!

Of course, with every conference that has happened,

There is new knowledge that needs to be put out there.

I am so much reading the Uganda Alcohol Status Report 2022.

(I wish each and every Ugandan would get to know what this report is saying)
