Born as Creola Katherine Coleman on August 26th in 1918,
Katherine showed strong mathematical abilities from an early age.
She was a mathematician whose calculations of orbital mechanics as a NASA employee were critical to the success of the first and subsequent U.S. crewed spaceflights.
