And what kind of success are we talking about; I am not so sure either!
My eyes are also stuck on the blanketing phrase “every successful man”…I wonder why!

I think it all depends on how you interpret things. Or if you wonder why the man has to be the successful one in the relationship. If he is, did he get there because of the help of his wife or was he successful before they met. What about a gay man? Many many questions.

It’s an outdated statement, in many ways. The original intent was to say that, yes, men are usually the ones who go on to achieve because society has paved a clearer and easier path for them. And their success is often due to the encouragement and support of the women in their life. Today, this statement is dated and some would say a little sexist.

I think that no matter who we are there are people behind our successes. Those who helped us, inspired us, cheered us on, supported us. Although I do understand that isn’t likely the true spirit of this actual saying, I do think it’s humbling and important to remember that we are fortunate to have those we do rallying with us/behind us. And we likely wouldn’t be where we are without their love and support <3
