Yeah…..I said it
I’ve been with them all these years since I was 6
I’m 26 now
I trust you can do the math
All the club greats like Ian Wright, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry
David Seaman, Marc Overmars, Lauren Mayer, Ashley Cole
Gilberto Silva, Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp, Sol Campbell
Nwanko Kanu, Jens Lehmann, Freddie Ljunberg, Tony Adams
Liam Brady, Emmanuel Petit, Robin van Persie, Charlie George, David O’Leary, Cesc Fabregas, Santi Cazorla, Martin Keown, Ray Parlour, Kolo Toure, Pat Jennings, Lee Dixon, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil
To the fresh meats and bloods like Papa Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi
Sead Kolasinac, Bukaku Saka, Maitland-Niles
Lucas Torreira, Laurent Koscielny, Petr Cech, Alex Lacazette
Pierre Aubameyang, Hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka
To the mighty and unforgettable Highbury
Where we made history in 2014
You might want to remind yourself or check it out yourself
Sometime…am sure you’ll notice the pattern
To the phenomenal Arsene Wenger, Pat Rice & Co.
And the entire team he worked with back-stage
To give us the best show they could
Now that I think of it, this is the same team that I’ve looked at, for all the years that I’ve supported Arsenal
2004 and 2006 were very good years to remember
The Unbeaten run and our first time at the UCL Final
That day of the UEFA Champions League Final
Aaaahhhhh
I was home
And my mind had been on this one match, the entire week
So, it comes to the kick-off time, I was having my supper
I look at the screen and the boys move onto the stadium in their yellow-kit
I cried
And hid under the table as well….biting my nails
I was so happy….very anxious at the same time
Barca beat us, alright
I felt a winner that day, alongside the boys!
Then came the dry spell
As I famously called it
Season after season, the team wasn’t bagging any silverware
I literally feel the lumps growing in my throat occasionally
And the veins in my head protruding out
Damn!!!
What a time it was to be alive then!!!
And now, in the times of Unai Emery, second-half revival and urgency
Well then, let’s just how it goes.
Go, Arsenal!
Yyyaaayyyyyyy
20 Years is a long time to support a team! I’m glad that you stuck with it. I’ve been supporting the Buffalo Bills in the USA for the last 31 years. No luck there 🙁
