Always laughing, living, loving and thinking about food. I'm so deeply concerned about health, young people, food and psychology.
Reggae gets me on another level with the way I see life and I enjoy reading.
I’m not sure I can fully appreciate the quote from Dr. Jackson. Am I missing something – I’ve assumed capitalism inspires creativity (?).
ππ youβve missed quite a bit. Please read it again, slowly.
Mmm, interesting post! Not sure of the understanding of his quote but everyone views things differently I would say.

Creativity is definitely being stifled at times. Although I feel like we are turning that around again, or maybe it just seems that way since my kids’ school is very open to ideas and thinking creatively and critically.

Well, I don’t really understand how this is so. I see it very differently.
π€π€ how so?
I mostly agree with the comments! Im not sure if I understand it properly.
π€ how so?
That quote at the start is spot on! Capitalism can hinder creativity…The average joe needs regular income, so can end up in a job that requires mundane work practices. Hence has the potential halt creativity. Compared with someone who already has means, they have more opportunity to tap into creativity, as they have more flexibility to work from home, fewer hours, can soak up an irregular income pattern etc Just one example, but there are so many, a long debate for sure x

I can’t think of anything more accurate than this. A regular 9 to 5 stifles your creativity, saps your will, and leaves you in a day-to-day grind of doing something you usually hate just to survive.

This quote speaks volumes! It’s a powerful reminder of how capitalism can hinder our creativity and drive. Embrace your uniqueness and don’t let society’s norms hold you down. Let’s strive for authenticity and break free from the chains of routine. Motivation comes from embracing our individuality and pursuing our passions! π

Definitely food for thought. I can see how many can relate to this, but others see it differently.

This is interesting and true. We need to work on this and pay attention because we could be much better.
ππ½π
This is what happens under capitalism. The creativity of the poor is forced to be redirected into the matter of survival.

I agree that it is being held back at times!

“Great post! I completely agree that it’s essential to hold down our thoughts to ensure authentic conversations and avoid falling into routine patterns. In today’s world, where individualism dominates, it’s crucial to foster creative and engaging discussions that challenge our perspectives. Let’s not be disinterested or unmotivated when it comes to contributing to meaningful discourse.

This is really creative well it depends on how people can relate or understand this. Thanks for sharing this with us

I completely agree with Dr Jenn M. Jackson’s statement. Capitalism can often hinder our ability to think outside of the box and be truly creative. When we are constantly focused on making money, we may prioritize conformity over uniqueness. It’s important to challenge this mindset and embrace our individuality, even if it means taking risks. At the end of the day, true fulfilment comes from being true to ourselves and pursuing our passions.

I’ve not come across this quote before. Interesting thought although difference isn’t always punished in some roles.

I found this post to be very interesting and informative, thanks for sharing

I definitely agree with you, capitalism could stop people to express themselves freely and follow the path they want or their passion. No one wants to be controlled.

It’s true that capitalism’s emphasis on individualism can sometimes hold down our creativity and originality. Dr. Jenn M. Jackson’s quote beautifully highlights how routine and sameness might be rewarded, while uniqueness is discouraged. It’s a great reminder to value and nurture our imagination despite the pressures of the system. ππ
