Natural hair, you are simply enough as you are
Oohhh natural hair
You are a sight to behold
No amount of cream or bleach or paint or sun on hair can be equated to you
Just standing or falling away from your roots
Truly phenomenal
You are a natural beauty
Of your own league and of any other league out there
No match for anybody, to be honest

I don’t know of any reason to change you
Or anything about you
Or worse still, to cut you off from your roots and where you come from
Maybe simply lock you down on our heads
But other than that, you are as glorious as they come
Even from a far or in a crowd
You are simply divine
And easy to be singled-out
You outshine many of those that carry you on them
You give off a particular breath to the life we live…I just can’t seem to put my finger to it
Some people might say you make them look really bad
Because you are scanty on them, very thin, very this and that
But the truth remains, you are simply given to me
I don’t have to buy you from some shop or head or stall
To fix you up so that you can look more desirable on me or my head
I adore you just the way you are
My natural hair
It was one day in 2016
When I made up my mind to keep you on my head forever
Without tampering with you much
A little manipulation here and there
And here we are in 2019
You are locked on my head
You give me identity, purpose and a journey
Resistance, truth spoken and heard, life, gratitude from me
Most of all, you remind me to preserve life as much as I can

When we started out
So many people were against you on me
They went like, “what do you need all that hair for”, “you look like some destitute”, “you must be using weed and drugs now if you have that hair”
All that didn’t matter
I realized that all along, I was always making a mistake cutting you off from your roots!
You are exactly where you are supposed to be
And where you need to be

On the head
And not off it….on the floor or in the dump somewhere
Natural hair
You are a sight to behold
You are so beautiful
In that colour and skin you got
Simply smelling you is enough for my day to be brightened up
You are everything I want and everything they say you are not!

~ Natural hair; a sight truly to behold ~
I love this. I have never heard the journey of natural hair sound so poetic, but I definitely relate to the love for natural hair!
??
You are right on the dot. Unfortunately many around us these days go for colors which in the long run is so harmful.
Yyyeeaahhhh….that’s quite unfortunate.
I have naturally curly hair and I HATE IT. I pay good money to straighten it 🙂
Aaahhhhh….that’s so sad, Robin!
I like my sideburns but I can’t seem to get a goatee though. :0( I would’ve preferred a straight hair before but not now anymore.
Hehe….that’s alright, Artchee!
You write good. And yes natural hair is really beautiful.
Hihi…..thank you, Moni!
Yes, I love my thick, long and black hair. Even though people always said that my hair is thick, I will never thin out my hair. Cause hair will get thinner naturally as we get older. So I will cherish it when it’s still thick and healthy.
Yyyaaayyyyyy!
I love this post. I don’t know anyone that loves their natural hair. We all try to make it look better by damaging it with heat products and chemicals. I think I’ll learn to embrace my natural straight and thin hair and just be me.
??❤️
i like keeping my hair natural and chemical free. Nice post! Keep it up!
??
Every hair is beautiful! Thin, thick, curl, straight!
???
I thought this was a really cool reflection on natural hair. I thought for a moment that this was an ode to the natural hair of melaninated people until I saw images of random non-melaninated people who have rarely if ever been persecuted for wearing their straight hair. So admittedly, I’m super confused. I am looking forward to reading something that might help me understand.
Aaaahhh…alright Lavern!
Natural hair is really quite beautiful. I love seeing how everyone’s is different.
Aawww….you are so sweet, Heather!
