This morning, I was on YouTube looking at one of my favourite pair of black people of the moment, Nelly and Ashanti.
There is a song they sung with Akon back in 2008 that I love so much called “Body On Me“.

Usually as tracks play on YouTube,
I enjoy reading the comments that various viewers leave on the channels.
One comment stuck with me and it is,
“We don’t look for songs. We look for the memories they carry”.
Come to think of it; how true is this statement?
I first listened to this song I believe in 2008 and loved it instantly.
That song is simply refreshing to me and it is what it reminds me of;
It reminds me of the good times back in college where we simply vibed with the music, as it came.
Besides that, things were much easier then.
The internet was still a maze to so many people and yet,
we somehow managed to get what we wanted from it.
The friendships we made then, have lasted longer than what we have, in the present day.

I don’t really watch music on YouTube, but I have several songs that I go back to again and again on Spotify.

I love listening to Hair Nation on SiriusXM. That station plays songs that bring me back to a time where I felt wild and free. One note of the right song and I’m transported to the past.

I rarely watch music on YouTube except my niece’s recordings. I keep going back to her Til They Take My Heart Away and all the young loves i had…their mamories are carried there.

Back in the day, I always wondered why my mom and dad kept playing old music from the 1970s and 1980s. and now I’m doing the same by going back to the late 1990s and early 2000s. hahaha. To be honest, the early 2000s were amazing. I have always been a fan of music and would play the latest songs, but now I find myself going back to the early 2000s. Even yesterday, I was playing ‘She’s the one’ by Robbie Williams. Music will always bring back memories.

I was also listening to the 2000-era music and yes, they gave me so much memories. Back then, I don’t super analyze the lyrics… and listening them again recently made me realized how emotional the songs are. No WAP-songs.

I love looking at the comments too btw. Though I don’t purposely go back to music, I do get a smile on my face when the songs of my youth play out. Flying around the skating rink with my boyfriend, dancing at parties, dancing on my own after school when no one else was home. Love those memories. Love the Music.
