During recovery from use of substance, there are two very interesting terms we tend to use
These are slip and leap
Wanna know what they mean?
Well, for a slip, it’s that one time on our road of recovery where we use our substance of addiction
Now, whether it is a case of choice or being forced to, that is a story for another day
And then, we have a leap where in many cases, it is that series of times on our road of recovery where in most cases, we deliberately use our substance of addiction
Please note that with the leap, it doesn’t necessarily have to happen over a long period of time
Can even be now…..
I just wanted to let you know about that

Battling addictions is a brutal climb and as with any climb, you can expect to slip once in a while. The key is to keep making upward progress.
✊? progress, it is!
Interesting! I had never heard these terms before but now I know! Probably one of those things where now that I know them, I will hear them come up.
Aaahhhh…I am glad you know now!
Very interesting. We’ve had friends who battle from addiction, and it’s so important to have a good support system to help you get through the difficult times.
Yyyyeeeaaahhhhh! Healing is the ultimate goal.
i have not heard these phrases before. thank you for enlightening me and i hope you continue to enjoy writing.

?? you are welcome.
Beating an addiction is an ongoing process and sometimes we slip. It’s all part of the journey.
??
Good to know about the difference between a slip and a leap! Thanks for sharing this, actually these words are common to hear but uncommon to me to understand!HaHa….
Hihi….that’s alright!
Battling addiction is difficult, especially if you have been at it for years. It takes a lot of will power and prayers to overcome it. Slips may happen, but if we are determined to get out of addiction, then we will!
???? definitely!
There is someone in our family who is dating someone who has just started to have an addiction problem. It is a serious addiction and it makes me very worried in many ways for the person with the addiction and our family member who loves that person. It’s not going to be an easy road for any of us, I am afraid.
??? be there for the person fighting the battle. You’ll be glad you did when they cross over to the other end.
I’ve met people over the years who struggle with addiction and it’s such a battle for them to overcome. Always proud to see them come out stronger.
Aaaaahhhh….I love you more for that!
Very interesting. Wouldn’t a leap be an outcome of a slip? I can only imagine going back into using with the intention of doing it only one time increases the chances of entering a leap.
Oh yes, it would be.
I did not know these terms. I stopped smoking in 2011 which of course is very different in a way but also similar. Still feel like having one some days even after 8 years.
Aaaahhhh…I kkknnnooowwww….those urges keep around!
even those who have recovered can still slip. what matters is we are constantly aware and that we try our best to refrain from it. great post 🙂

Addiction is difficult to overcome but with the right therapy and discipline, you can overcome it! Keep being strong!
?? thank you.
I think people under estimate how hard battling with an addiction can be . Not enough support for people x
??? it’s so hhhaaarrrdddddd
Unfortunately I’ve known people to have both a slip and a leap- both make recovery extremely difficult.
