I have been listening to Dawn Pennβs βYou donβt love meβ.
This is the dancehall version of the song I am talking about and itβs chorus really struck me,
βNo No No, You donβt love me and I know nowβ!
Itβs a great song to listen to and dance to, on the dance floor, right?
My problem is that it paints a picture of sadness on the dance floor, in my mind.

I want you to picture yourself in the shoes of Dawn, in that moment, on the dance floor or even outside the dancehall.

How would you be feeling?
Would you sing and dance your heart out, like she did, with a lot of sadness?

Always laughing, living, loving and thinking about food. I'm so deeply concerned about health, young people, food and psychology.
Reggae gets me on another level with the way I see life and I enjoy reading.
Ah! It’s hard to dance when you’re sad. But I’m sure it’s really cathartic!

I have always thought if we all woke up and danced for 10 minutes there would be less wars, hate and depression. So, yes, I would dance my heart out and my sadness would be lessened.

I think Dawn Penn is a role model for how to deal with sadness in a healthy way. She doesn’t try to hide her pain or pretend that she’s not hurting. Instead, she sings about it and dances it out. This can be a helpful way to process difficult emotions and move on from them.

For me, dancing out the sadness is often the best cure! Don’t try to hide it just move with it.

I will always dance away my troubles. Just music and dancing is enough to lift my spirits and brighten my life.

Only dancers would know how it feels. Just like people use songs to feel better. Dancers do it and it help a lot to feel better.

I mostly dance when Im happy. I guess its hard to dance when you are sad.

Some of the dance songs do have sad lyrics. I think the beat makes the vibe for dancing, most times, unless the words really strike a chord in us way too hard.

It’s not a nice feeling to love someone so much but the person doesn’t love you even half as you don’t love them. However, I have learnt to recognise the signs as early as possible and act on them.

Dancing and forgetting about sadness, even if it is for the time being, is the best thing to do. I know some good dance songs that are extremely popular have really sad lyrics!

For me actually dance is one of the best therapies (aside from spending time with my daughter). But I can see how some might feel lonely in the crowd….Great post!

I think it would depend on how I’m really feeling at the moment. Either dance it out to get all the pent-up energy and sorrow out or I might feel like not doing anything.

I don’t think I have ever heard this but I am always looking for new stuff to listen to so I will check this out.

I wouldnt dance all out with sadness. She was brave to do it.

Iβve never thought about dancing when Iβm sad, but Iβll have to give it a try next time! It would probably be difficult to stay sad for long!

Great post!
π thank you.
Sounds good! Dancing and music are the good medicines for sadness, I believe.
