Very many years ago,
You came to our lands masquerading as peaceful people.
You took us away forcefully on your big wooden boats.
And made us whatever you wanted to make of us.

Now that we are bringing ourselves to your lands,
Why are you working so hard to stop us from coming to where you are?
Could it be that you have a guilty conscience?
Or, are you just afraid of the past repeating itself?

Always laughing, living, loving and thinking about food. I'm so deeply concerned about health, young people, food and psychology.
Reggae gets me on another level with the way I see life and I enjoy reading.

These beautiful words have touched my heart – I feel sadness and regrets. Anyone who opposes responsible immigration policies needs to read and understand this.

What a powerful post. I hope that we can all learn from the past and make sure that we do better as a whole.

Your post hit me right in the guts; but thatβs the power of good writing and what itβs meant for. Some donβt pay close enough attention to subjects like this or just donβt want to. Thanks for MAKING us pay attention! Keep writing my friend!

They’re trying to stop you because unless they’re getting free labor and building their nation on your back, they don’t want you around. It’s horrible.
ππ
I hate that some are blocking others from the life they want. We can’t change the past, we can’t make it right because it wasn’t right, but we can do better in the future.

This is a hard one to read, especially at the moment with the UK debating tighter immigration laws. It’s horrible to watch people being refused safe access when fleeing war etc.
ππ
Very powerful piece to think about, and beautifully written.

Short but to the point. Immigration has been made out to be something bad, costly, even dangerous. But people seem to forget that the United States was built on immigration and our diversity makes us stronger.

So many sad things in history. It is tough to look back at things like this. So many modern issues going on too that make the world a sad place.

The immigration system is broken, to be honest. Alot of people have abused the system both inside and out, and now they are trying to fix it. Until it’s fixed where there is a good standard agreement for migrants between all countries, things will remain challenging.

Honestly, reading these words and seeing these illustrations makes me feel so sad. So many things happened in the past and continue to happen today.

It is so sad what is happening to people in many countries in Africa! I just can’t imagine what they are going through when trying to escape by crossing the sea with a boat. Many die trying. England with all of her “children” are trying to destroy my people also.

It always blows my mind to hear racists saying things like, “I wish they’d go back where they came from.”
I mean, they people they’re talking about are only there because their ancestors were kidnapped!

What an absolutely powerful post. My heart is heavy reading this. I’m hoping we all do better in the future.

It’s awful to hear so many are being blocked from other countries. Many just want a better life for themselves and their families.

History is the best teacher. Let us all learn from the events that our forefathers went through. It is sad though that we have not learned our lessons. Beautiful piece. Very touching and so very true.

Wow, it’s awful to see that happening. This is something should be stopped and can’t torture people like this forcing them.

This is a very powerful post that really touches my heart. It is so sad to see things like this and it really motivates me to help our community however I can.

Wow what a powerful post of expression. Defintely food for thought. Thanks for sharing

It’s a sad part of history that many people don’t want to think about the slave trade in the past. Rejecting immigrants probably has to do with the fact that the planet is getting crowded, and the population explosion is a reason I’m glad I don’t have children.
π©π nnnooooooo, we all can fit anywhere in this world.
The statement highlights the issue of historical colonization and its impact on indigenous populations. It raises concerns about the use of force and the suppression of cultural identity, which are important issues to consider and reflect upon. It also underscores the need for acknowledging and addressing past injustices to build a more equitable and inclusive society.

It makes me so sad! Anyone should be allowed to rebuild a life anywhere they want.
