I beg you.
Please document your own story!
I donβt care where you are going to document it; be it on paper, video, photographs, art pieces, audio-visual, braille etc…..
But please write your own story!
That way, we wonβt easily lose so many key details to poor translation.
We will not have someone lie about us and what happened.
Also, we will keep the chain moving of information about us!

Hear my cry.
Document your own story, please!
It is so important for today, this moment, tomorrow and the future!

Always laughing, living, loving and thinking about food. I'm so deeply concerned about health, young people, food and psychology.
Reggae gets me on another level with the way I see life and I enjoy reading.
I think this is such a fabulous idea! If we don’t tell our own stories, then who will?

I love this so much! We all have to write our own stories. We’re the only ones who know them.

Oh, I do this already in a way! I have been an avid scrapbooker since I was a kid. I have dozens of scrapbooks that tell our stories in photos and journaling on the pages. I have been most consistent with it since getting married so my kids have their life stories in those scrapbooks.

I think we always feel like we will have time for these things, but we don’t make time. So important to make the effort to put something together.

It’s a famous saying in my culture – ” Stories are always written by the winners.” Hence, it’s their point of view that gets highlighted and the person who lost the battle, his side, is never heard. So, regardless of being the winner or the loser, it’s important to write your own story and tell the world your point of view. Set the narrative rather than giving someone else the power to set it for you.

For a long time now I have been preparing to start with everyday writing and documenting my thoughts, opinions, feelings…

Great idea! I’ve often thought about telling my story and at a time I thought it was all I wanted to do, talk and share my story. But as time has marched on, I’m now a bit more apprehensive!
ππ oh no, what happened, girl?
I think most of my story is documented in photos. I could take more though as there is so much more that could be documented.

I love pictures and try to piece them together to document my journey of life. I also enjoy scrapbooking and keeping a journal through pictures.

My husband is great at documenting family story. He knows all names and dates. Plus, we have like 6 paper boxes with family stuff. I think I need to follow your advice because I’m from a different country and I have something to say too.

It’s inspiring to know that everyone has a unique story to share. However, I’m not sure if people would believe mine. HA!
ππ well, we have to hear it first, right?
This is a really great idea. I really love taking photos to keep the memories. Thanks for sharing this with us

Nice idea to get me motivated to write. I used to have a diary but need another.

I think we all need to be the tellers of our own stories. We’re the only ones who know how they actually happened!

This is why I started and love blogging. I started by documenting my story. Documentation is everything.

Although I’m a journalist, I didn’t document it when I started, but then later I found out that I’m missing out on good memories for not documenting it and saving pictures.

I love this idea I have always loved leaving a trace behind and this is a great way to do it

Absolutely agree! Your plea is powerful and important. Self-documentation preserves truth and history. Let’s ensure our stories are told accurately, leaving no room for misrepresentation. Your passion shines through. Keep advocating for this cause!

Yes, it’s about time we learn to document. Whatever reason we have — let’s take more photos, video and even journal.
